Medical Expenses

Medical Expenses

Individual taxpayers are entitled to claim tax credit for qualifying medical expenses incurred. Medical expenses are the costs to treat or prevent an injury or disease, such as dental, prescription eye glasses, prescriptions, health insurance premiums, hospital visits, and rehabilitation services. You can claim expenses for your parents, grandparents and children who depend on you for support.

Detailed information on the rules governing the types of expenses which qualify for the credit, any required documentation for such expenses, and the amount of credit claimable at different income levels are outlined in the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) publication RC4065, Medical Expenses.
