Schedule A - Amount for Dependants and Amount Transferred by a Child Pursuing Studies (Rama please add French for entire page)

If you receive any amount from any dependent or child who is pursuing vocational training at the secondary level or post-secondary studies in Quebec the you need to fill Schedule A

 

A. Amount for a child under 18 enrolled in post-secondary studies

 

If the child was born after December 31, 1998, and in 2016 was a full-time student pursuing vocational training at the secondary level or post-secondary studies Schedule A Part A needs to be completed.

 

Line 1 -  If the amount for a child under 18 enrolled in post-secondary studies is being split between you and another person, enter that person’s social insurance number here.

Line 6 -  Relationship to you

Line 7-   Amount for post secondary studies

Line 10 - Dependent child's income from Line 275 of his/her return

Line 12 - Dependent child's income from Line 236 of his/her return

Line 16 - Scholarship, bursaries or any similar financial assistance reported on line 154 of child's return

Line 22 - Amount for a child under 18 enrolled in post secondary studies

 

B. Amount transferred by a child 18 or over enrolled in post-secondary studies

 

Line 27 - Relationship to you

Line 28 - Amount transferred to you by the child

Line 29 - Amount transferred by a child 18 or over enrolled in post-secondary studies

 

C. Amount for other dependents

 

This portion is to be completed only if the dependents meet all three of the following conditions:

 

• The person was born before January 1, 1999.

• The person is related to you by blood, marriage or adoption.

• In 2016, the person ordinarily lived with you and was supported by you.

 

Line 37 - Basic amount is $3,100 per dependent

Line 40 - Reduction of the amount for other dependents if the dependent turned 18 in 2016

Line 42 - Dependent's income from Line 275 of his/her return

Line 44 - Dependent's income from Line 236 of his/her return

Line 48 - Scholarship, bursaries or any similar financial assistance reported on line 154 of dependent's return

Line 56 - Amount for other dependents

D. Tax credit for tuition or examination fees transferred by a child

The child must file an income tax return and complete Schedule T to both calculate the amount he or she can transfer and designate the individual to whom an amount will be transferred. If the child designated you as a person to whom an amount is being transferred in their Schedule T of the income tax return then this portion is to be filled in your return to claim that tuition or examination fee amount
